February Frenzy 2025 is almost here!
Pep Rally kicks off on Thursday, February 13th
The February Frenzy was started in 1974 by OLS parent Butch Larkin. “The OLS Basketball Tournament” was its first incarnation for several years but was eventually dubbed the “February Frenzy.” The name has stuck ever since. Little did Mr. Larkin and his fellow OLS families know that “Frenzy” would become the premier grammar school basketball tournament in the state.
The February Frenzy is a 10 day basketball tournament hosted at OLS that runs through President’s Day weekend. The tournament consists of teams from surrounding CYO basketball school and parish programs. Teams come from all over Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, and Union counties. The tournament is single-elimination / win or go home – style brackets. There are brackets set up for grades 5th/6th and 7th/8th, with exhibition games for our 3/4th grade teams. There are over 40 games played during the 10 days of the tournament.
The Frenzy has been a tradition for over 50 years, serving thousands of families with great competition, lasting memories, and of course…legendary food. The festivities start off with our Pep Rally in the OLS Gym on February 13th. This event brings the whole OLS community together to show Crusader spirit and to celebrate the start of an amazing 10 days ahead. On the 2nd to last night of Frenzy, the volunteer dinner acknowledges and honors the hard work done by our diligent families. The championship games are traditionally played on the last day of Frenzy to determine our winners for 2025.
February Frenzy is one of the biggest fundraisers at OLS. The main source of profit is the amazing food sold during the games as well as the raffles and famous halftime half-court shots. To make this great event possible, we ask each family that participates in sports to volunteer at Frenzy. The hard work that is made possible by our OLS community earns funds for the athletics program.
There are many ways to contribute at Frenzy. From help at the snack stands, scoreboard help, fan security, to kitchen & food prep, there are a variety of roles to contribute! Use the SignUpGenius link provided through future e-blasts to get started. I am happy to answer any questions about roles.

Pep Rally - Thursday, February 13th (doors open @ 5:30pm; event starts @ 6:30pm
OLS Volunteer Dinner - Saturday, February 22nd @ 6:30pm
